Ceramics course

During 3 days we spend time creating in clay with Agneta at Hillestorps Krukmakeri. Her pottery workshop is beautifully located in the countryside outside Tumleberg in Vara municipality. On this course you get to try several different techniques such as ringing, rolling, turning and tumbling.

The course runs for three consecutive days and the group is kept small so that everyone is helped through the different stages. The course is aimed at both beginners and those with previous experience of creating in clay.

Day 1: we start with an introduction where different techniques are shown and simple coffee. We go through rolling, tumbling, ringing and turning. There are 3 turning disks, 2 electric disks and 1 kick disk. Then it is free choice of technique. Turning is an art. The course leader Agneta sits next to you and helps you through the turning moments when you turn the first time. Then you will get help with centering so that you can get started, then you work independently on the turning disc and Agneta is there to give tips and advice.

Day 2: we work on and try different techniques.

Day 3: we take care of what we’ve already created; polish and “send” the turned and it is free to continue creating something based on the techniques we learned.

The hours are 10:00 – 16:00 on all three days.

What is included? 3 day course including clay firing, glazing and glaze firing of what you have made. It also includes coffee, lunch during the three days and supper and breakfast on two occasions. Accommodation of your choice for 2 nights. See below for information on accommodation options.

What do you need to prepare?
Bring casual clothes and shoes.

Prerequisites and age
No prior knowledge required. From 15 years old.

Cost of clay:
Clay (incl. glaze) costs 80:-/kg. It is weighed and paid at the end of the last day of the course.

After about 6-8 weeks, what you have made is ready to pick up at Hillestorps Keramik. If you live far away, your things are sent against the shipping cost.

With us you can stay either in luxurious glamping tents with hotel standard beds, in a awsome tree tent floating above the ground by the river Nossan, in your own tent, your own motorhome or caravan. Places are limited so first come, first served: maximum 6 people per session.

Prices
-Glamping tent: 6100:-/person (part of a 2-man or 4-man tent. Bed linen, towel and bathrobe included)
-Tree tent: 5100:-/person (part of a 2-man tent, sleeping bag with sleeping bag sheet, towel and pillow included)
-Tent site: 4900:-/person (no electricity, tent site for two people*)
-Pitch 4900:-/person (incl. electricity, pitch for two people*)

Cancellation through personal contact only: email or phone. Cancellation up to 2 weeks before the start of the course means that we charge an administration fee of 10% of the total cost. Cancellation later than two weeks before the start of the course means a charge of 50% of the total cost. Cancellation later than one week before the start of the course means full charge.

*For additional persons beyond two, SEK 250 per accommodation will be charged
